Ships and Boats Associated with Lowestoft

Boats have been important to Lowestoft probably as long as there's been a settlement on this part of the East Coast, and this page looks at some of the boats resident at Lowestoft or having some association with it. It's nice to know a little about the boats and the history behind them. This information is added as I come by it, however I have to rely on help from others as my interest is primarily as a photographer and I have no boating connections myself.
Naval	HMS Lowestoft - Naval ship bearing the Lowestoft name. MTB102 - motor torpedo boat. Aeria - ex cold war spyship. Defender - warship built for the sultan of Oman.
Fishing	Mincarlo - last surviving Lowestoft built and engined sidewinder trawler. Excelsior- preserved Lowestoft (sailing) fishing smack. Lydia Eva- the last surviving herring drifter (in the world?) Little Fishing Boats - sad remains of the once proud fishing industry. Unloading the catch - see a cargo of Sprat sorted.
Pleasure	Doris- 1930s pleasure boat with high society connections. Sailing Boats- as seen at the yachting marina. Powerboat Racing - at Oulton Broad.
